Social payments & E-commerce are taking a giant leap forward this year. Facebook & PayPal have put together a simple app called “Send Money” allowing you to choose a friend on your facebook list and send them a payment. You have a choice to send an ecard with your money or not, this will easily allow you to send birthday cards with gifts to your friends, make payment to your employees or simply donate money to needy charities.

“The PayPal and Facebook infrastructure have now merged,” PayPal’s Anuj Nayar says. “This is another way to personalize the act of giving money.” While there are several ways to pay with PayPal via Facebook (Payvment comes to mind), this is the first app to enable peer-to-peer payments via Facebook and PayPal. And because it’s a peer-to-peer transaction, there is no transaction fee, though PayPal’s regular limits and international fees still apply.

PayPal realized that more than 500 million ecards are sent a year, teamed up with facebook they are giving you the option of selecting any template from birthdays to congratulations. I personally can see this app doing very well and wonders what the future of Facebook holds for us. Will everything be done through this social media platform one day? I wonder how this will revolutionize the world we live in.

Will the Blackberry 10 be an instant success or can it even compete with the current iPhone 4S and upcoming iPhone 5? Here at Pearl White Media we truly stand by our Apple products and will opt to await the new iPhone as opposed to going in the Blackberry direction. The clarity and efficiency of a current Iphone in our eyes is irreplaceable.

An interesting feature is the cameras on BlackBerry 10 phones will be able to capture imagery before and after you take the shot, letting you “go back in time” in case, say, someone closes their eyes. Another interesting feature is Cascades which are a BB10 developer tool (in beta). This app lets creators add dynamic elements to items like buttons or specific fields. There’s also a Cascades plug-in for Photoshop which is an interesting feature for designers such as us.

Now the question remains, will this phone be an instant success and bring the company Research in Motion back to where it used to be?

Google Docs is built right into Google Drive, which means you can work with others in real time on documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Once you’ve shared content with someone else, you can add and reply to comments on anything (PDF, image, video file, etc.) and you’ll receive notifications when other people comment the items you’ve shared.

There is a new interesting featured called “smart tagging” which allows you to tag items on your drive. For example if you uploaded a website design called “Company Design” to your drive then next time you do a search it will bring up the company’s files.

Also built in is image recognition & OCR technology (Optical character recognition). OCR is a cool feature especially for our Pearl White Media team, we can scan in client’s documents and the OCR will recognize the text and convert it to a word document. This will save us a lot of time since we usually would need to retype the text for the client.

The drive can be installed anywhere (PC,MAC,Android, tablet etc.) and is being offered to everyone for free for 5GB. If you need more then 5GB they offer upgrade services at a monthly charge.

The company Planetary Resources, the world’s premier andacious space company is set to start prospecting near-Earth asteroids as early as by end of 2013.

There will be telescopes setup which will identify near Earth Asteroids that are rich in water (for rocket fuel) as well as precious metals such as platinum. The operation will be controlled by swarms of robot prospectors which will be zooming in on the promising Asteroids and will handle mining and capture of the Asteroids.

According to Gene Munster, an analyst for Piper Jaffray says the phone will have a brand new redesigned body. The new phone will also run on 4G, similar to the new iPad which just came out  and will incorporate data networks such as LTE.

I personally can’t wait to own the next iPhone 5 as I do my best to always keep up with the latest gadgets, electronics on the market. Being a passion of mine I know I will definitely pick up this brand new phone as soon as it hits the market.

Having a redesigned body, it is rumored that the iPhone will incorporate an exotic LiquidMetal material. Apple spent $30 million acquiring the rights to use LiquidMetal in 2010. What is LiquidMetal you may ask? Pearl White Media was also curious so we looked into this further. We observed that it is a mix of many metals and overall will give the phone a “liquid like exterior feel” and allow the phone to weigh less and have a slimmer profile.

Growing up, one of my favorite and most successful pro skaters was Tony Hawk. Not only is he a pro skater but a great entrepreneur as well. He started his own business at the age of 14 and knew how to market himself perfectly.

“When taking these endorsement deals, I always made sure I had final approval over the way they used my image. But I was also using those dollars to bring attention to skating in general,” he said.
